Dominant F3 Americas Team Looks to Continue Streak, Claim Titles

-Team, driver championships within reach as F3 tour heads to the Big Easy-

Leading open-wheel development team Abel Motorsports has arrived. Abel Motorsports got to NOLA Motorsports Park late this week to prepare for the fifth F3 Americas Powered by Honda race weekend Saturday and Sunday.   And Abel Motorsports’ journey this season has also seen them arrive as one of the most successful teams anywhere in the sport in this 2018 season.

Abel Motorsports was one of the first teams to see the value in the new F3 Americas series, taking delivery of their first Onroak/Honda machine shortly before the series kicked off in early August. Soon, they had a second car in their garage, and they’ve put together a dominant driver lineup, featuring F3 Americas championship leader Kyle Kirkwood and young charger Jacob Abel.

Kirkwood has won 11 of the first 12 F3 Americas races in this inaugural season, zeroing in on his third major championship in 12 months.   And he’s helped his team to a huge lead in the F3 Americas Team Standings, with two weekends of racing to go in the 2018 season.

“Abel Motorsports has progressed really quickly, when I think about how far we’ve come since the beginning of the season," said Kirkwood. "We haven’t expected to dominate any weekend.   I don’t want to be overconfident, but we’ve made the cars fast and it’s worked great.”

Team Principal Bill Abel commented, “The NOLA weekend gives us a chance to take a giant step towards the two championships, the Driver’s Championship for Kyle, and the Team Championship for us.   It’s a big thing for our team.   We’ll take it one race at a time, but we were fast on the test day.    We’re hoping things will work out for us.”

Kirkwood’s teammate Jacob Abel is fired up to go racing at NOLA. “I’m a little more excited because we’ve been here before.  I have a lot of laps here, and so does Kyle.   That’s a real benefit.  I think a podium is definitely in reach for us this weekend.  We’re really confident.”

Abel Motorsports does battle in the F3 Americas Championship Saturday afternoon at 3pm CDT, with two more races on Sunday.

Abel Motorsports is competing in multiple open-wheel developmental championships in 2018, the team’s second year of professional racing operations. Abel Motorsports has just debuted its official team website,www.abelmotorsports.com, and is accepting inquiries about driving opportunities in several different categories of cars including F3Americas.
