F3 Americas Champions Set for Road Atlanta Return

Success at Barber Leads to Renewed Effort in Georgia

One of the oldest storylines in sports is “success breeds success”. Reigning F3 Americas Championship Powered by Honda team Abel Motorsports of Louisville, Kentucky, is gearing up for the second 2019 weekend of F3 Americas action, April 18-20 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, knowing that its strong season debut at Barber Motorsports Park earlier in April augurs well for more success this coming weekend.

“Based on what we accomplished a few weeks ago at Barber, a track where we’d never raced before, we’ve decided to make the trip to Road Atlanta, where we’ve had success the past couple of years.  I’m confident we can pick up where we left off at Barber and compete for the top step on the podium," commented Team Principal Bill Abel.

Last year, in the first season of the F3 Americas Championship, Abel Motorsports swept the Road Atlanta weekend’s three races. The team has also posted strong results in F4 U.S. Championship action at the 12-turn, 2.54 mile traditional road course.

As at Barber, the team’s Ligier-Honda F3 machine will be driven by rising young star Jacob Abel. J. Abel picked up three top-five finishes in his first F3 Americas weekend at Road Atlanta in 2018. In the 2019 season-opener, J. Abel earned a third-place finish in Race 1, and a fourth in Race 2. Now, the young racer is primed for more.

“Road Atlanta is a place we know well, and a place where I’ve had success,” commented the 18-year-old.   “I’m stoked to be back this weekend in our F3Americas car.   We are going to be pushing hard for a win, and three solid races!”

The F3Americas Championship Powered by Honda has just kicked off its second

season. This weekend’s action begins Thursday with official practiced followed by qualifying and Race1 on Friday. The final two rounds of the triple-header weekend

run Saturday at 10:50 am and 2:50 pm.
