Irish driver aims high in Florida
September 9, 2019 - The last event weekend that James Roe Jr. was on track he was a winner, and he is looking to do the same this coming weekend at the Sebring International Raceway. Ready for the final event weekend in the 2019 F3 Americas Powered by Honda series, Roe will look to take his Global Racing Group CJJ Motorsport / Topcon / Vortex Companies / Bennett Law Office #95 to the front of the field in Florida.
"Road America was a great weekend for us, and we were able to get the monkey off our back," explained Roe. "We have had the pace all year to challenge for podiums and race wins but fell behind with track position. As a team, we proved that we could win, and that is my goal again this weekend in Sebring."
Entering the final round of the season, James Roe Jr. sits fifth in the championship point standings but is engaged in a battle that could see him end up second overall. With the second and sixth place drivers separated by only 46 points, and 75 point maximum that any given competitor could earn on a weekend, the battle will go down to the final checkered flag on Sunday.
Roe continued, "We have some momentum on our side and could challenge for a podium result in the championship standings. Our goals are two-fold this weekend: gain the best results possible as well as many points as we can to set ourselves up for the best finish in the overall title chase."
With a Promoters Test Day allowing drivers to hit the track on Thursday, the official event weekend will commence on Friday with a pair of practice sessions and qualifying. Saturday will host a pair of wheel-to-wheel events with race one and two of the weekend while Sunday will be the home of race three.
