With a fast time of 1:43.486, no one could beat Global Racing Group driver Benjamin Pedersen's times during qualifying at Virginia International Raceway on Saturday. "To grab pole today was exactly what we were hoping for," said Pedersen. "We put it together for qualifying, setting the fast lap on Lap 4 which is exactly what we needed to do to conserve tires for Race 1." Close behind in times with a 1:44.172 was his teammate Dakota Dickerson, driving the GRG signature orange No. 72 Stress Engineering Services Inc. car. The F3  had to settle for an off-pole start for the opening round of racing.  Velocity Racing Development rookie Mathias Soler-Obel took the third fastest time, just about nine tenths of a second off Pedersen's pace (1:44.410) with Quinlan Lall rounding out the top-five
