Hedge’s Jibbitz™ Motivation for Race Wins

Long-time Crocs fan, Callum Hedge has been offered a unique prize in exchange for race wins throughout his 2023 racing season.

Crocs are a type of footwear created in 2002, orginally intended to be a boat shoe, due to its lightweight and waterproof material. However, Crocs have since gained a cult-like following, which have regained popularity in the last few years.

Managed by former IndyCar team owner, and current director of Tasman Motorsport Group, Steve Horne, the New Zealand teenager will receive a chequered flag Jibbitz™ charm for each race win he racks up in 2023.

A Jibbitz™ is a Croc’s brand charm, that fit into the holes on each pair of the shoe.

Horne, and his wife, Christine, found the chequered flag Jibbitz™ while travelling, so present a new charm to Callum after each race win.

Hedge is already sporting four flag Jibbitz™, and states he needs to chase up Steve to get the other three to signify his seven race wins so far in 2023.

“Crocs are the best shoes you can buy, they’re like walking on a cloud,” said Hedge.

“I’ve made a deal with Steve, that if I win a championship this year, Steve has to buy and wear a pair of Crocs, I reckon he’d look pretty good in them!

“The aim is to fill up a Croc which has 13 Jibbitz holes, with chequered flag charms by the end of the season.”

Steve Horne added that he’d be excited to wear the Crocs, if Callum can secure a championship.

“Over the years I have offered all sorts of incentives for drivers I have worked with from meals at good restaurants, hard cash, upgrades on flights, but this must be the most unique one. I hope I get to wear them!"

Callum Hedge currently leads the Formula Regional Americas championship by 25 points, and sits third in the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia championship.

Hedge’s next event involves another long haul flight to America, for Round 4 of the Formula Regional Americas championship, at New Jersey Motorsport Park on the 28th-30th August.
